Fence Repair in Somerset, KY

Do you live in Somerset, KY and surrounding areas and have a broken fence? Whether your fence has blown over or you just need a simple repair to the gate, you’ve turned to the right place! As a handyman in Somerset, I’ve fixed many fences and would love to help you get your fence back in order. Here are some common fence issues.

Broken Fence Posts

This is likely what happened if your fence is no longer standing upright. The most common cause of a broken fence post is moisture around the post and it’s slowly rotting the post. As the wood rots, the post gets much weaker. After it reached a certain point, it just takes a strong gust of wind and down goes the fence.

Repairing this is a matter of digging out the old post, setting a new post in concrete and then rebuilding the section that blew over. Ask about our steel fence post options so you won’t have to worry about it in the future

Unstable Fence

If you can walk up to your fence and move it more than 1 or 2 inches then it’s likely that a fence post has rotted out and is no longer supporting the fence. This is essentially the same thing as a broken fence post and your fence just hasn’t blown over yet.

Broken Fence Boards

Here is another common issue that I run into. However, this is relatively easy and you are likely able to complete this repair on your own. Simply go to your home improvement store, pick up a couple of replacements and some nails or screws and attach to the fence posts. Easy! Or, give me a call and I’ll gladly help you out.

Sagging Gate

Just like doors, gates need regular maintenance in order to function their best. However, sometimes they are just built wrong to begin with. Either way sagging gates are a common issue that you don’t have to live with.

Most of the time reinforcing the gate with a cross member and some screws is more than enough to solve the issue. Occasionally, however the gate may need to be rebuilt in order to function properly.

Gate Won’t Latch

As fences are exposed to harsh weather and the changing seasons they tend to move around as the wood expands and contracts. This can cause the gate to because misaligned and therefore not allow the gate to open.

Repairing this issue can be as simple as moving the latch and adjusting the gate appropriately.
